Ceramic vs Si02: What's The Difference?

Ceramic is the buzzword in the car exterior protection industry and it's a really cool advancement. Unfortunately there is no rule book for naming detailing products so that creates confusion - so what actually constitutes a ceramic versus Si02 or silicon dioxide?

All Si02 coatings are ceramic but not all ceramics are Si02. A true ceramic creates a physical barrier on the outside of the paint and but needs to be done carefully and many ceramic coatings are not consumer friendly. They are typically done by professionals or experienced detailers.

Si02 sealants are technically part the ceramic family but they do not provide the durability of a solvent based ceramic coatings, they are temporary coatings that have nowhere near the bonding strength of traditional ceramic coatings.

Si02 spray sealants are however super consumer friendly and can produce great results in the right hands

303 choose not to label the touchless sealant  as a ceramic because even though it provides similar protection and effect, it could be misleading to the consume based on the common language of the industry.

Touchless Sealant is a spray-on rinse off product that protects your car's exterior for up to six months and it doesn't get much easier to use.
